Royal Melbourne Hospital

Royal Melbourne Hospital

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is the oldest hospital in Victoria, Australia, built just prior to the gold rush era that led to a boom in Melbourne's population.

The hospital is a key member of the Parkville Precinct of health and medical research organisations, and enjoys strong relationships with many of the city's major universities and research institutes.

Clinical collaboration

The institute has enjoyed a long and fruitful collaborative partnership with RMH. Our first laboratories were housed within the premises of what was then called the Melbourne Hospital and access to clinical facilities has been an ongoing priority for the institute.

We currently have a number of highly skilled clinician-scientists working at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, who are helping to translate fundamental discoveries made at the institute into treatments that will benefit patients.
