Dr Leah Beauchamp is a postdoctoral researcher in the Barnham Neurotherapeutics Laboratory at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. She completed her Masters of Biomedical Sciences in 2016 and her PhD in 2020 at The University of Melbourne. Leah’s PhD focused on investigating the biological mechanisms of hyposmia in Parkinson’s disease. During her postdoctoral studies, Leah has continued her research into prodromal symptoms and started working on the role of environmental insults In Parkinson’s disease.


Leah’s presentation will focus on the biological mechanisms of prodromal Parkinson’s disease that is the basis for novel diagnostic approaches. She will discuss the various non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and how they can be leveraged to improve the accuracy and timing of diagnosis, as well as improve patient stratification for clinical trials.
